What is the first word that pops in your head when I ask you to think of a better, more fulfilling life?
I imagine one of the first things that may come to mind is a happy family, or social life of some sort. Maybe the perfect partner to share the great life you already posses with, is important for you. I can imagine that some would say financial freedom. After all, the number one stress in the world involves money, or lack thereof. Since a majority of us work, a stress-free work environment would absolutely be a must.
No matter what your situation, I believe all answers have one thing in common:
Who wants a job that has no substance? Better yet, have you ever met someone that wants to have a family without quality conversations? That is not the life that I, nor my patients want. We want a life of quality, not quantity. I don’t want to live 100 years, if the last 30 years find me in a nursing home, would you?
Here’s the good stuff:
The quality of your life is dependent on the quality of your nerve system.
Let that sink in a little.
What does your nerve system do? Well, it does a lot. Most importantly, it keeps you functioning in a dysfunctional world. What a task! The stress of finances, the stress of the unfulfilling job, or the stress of the ungrateful husband. That is a lot of stress. Speaking of stress, did you know that your nerve system controls and coordinates your immune system? What kind of quality of life do people have that live with suppressed immune systems?
Keep care of your nerve system as though the quality of your life depends on it, because it really does. You can live a life of lesser quality, but who would want to do that?
