Healthy?

Healthy?

I do not know one person that would look at the teeth in this child, and not cringe. You are likely not a dentist, have no formal training on dental hygiene, yet most of us can look at the teeth on this individual and conclude that there must be some underlying health issue that is causing their teeth to look this way. We know it is not good, and we know it needs help, from a professional.
Now look at the spine x-ray. Did you get the same visceral reaction that you did when looking at the teeth? You should. Once again, you are likely not a Chiropractor, or a spine specialist of any type, however you should be able to recognize a poorly functioning spine when looking at it.
Maybe the old saying is accurate:
“If your spine was on your face you would take better care of it.”
The Winter Games

The Winter Games

Do you ever notice how people really get overwhelmed with a storm on the way? Right now, here in Texas, there is a winter storm warning with a hard freeze headed this way. The roads are filled with passionate drivers, the local HEB’s shelves are being pillaged, and the gas station is starting to feel the strain. The weather report is calling for a couple of days of freezing nights, and people have hit their breaking point!
The truth is, we have made it through storms before, and we will again. Sure, it is always a great idea to be prepared for electric outages or water shortages, but shouldn’t that have been thought of during the summer time? Meaning, we had plenty of time, especially in Texas, to prepare for a cold snap. In fact, 2 years ago, we had electric outages for 5 days, and many suffered because of the lack of preparation for that storm.
If you knew it was possible to have bad weather, why didn’t you prepare before so late?
The truth is, it is human nature to procrastinate. We procrastinate with our health all the time:
  • Waiting until we have a health scare to change our diet.
  • Waiting until we are 100lbs overweight to go on a diet.
  • Waiting until we have been diagnosed with a serious, preventable health problem before we take calculated, simple steps to live a healthier life.
  • Waiting for pain to get your nerve supply checked by a Chiropractor.
We have all heard it, but I will say it again:
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
-Benjamin Franklin, 1736
What does stress mean to you?

What does stress mean to you?

When I say the word “stress”, people often think of the holidays. Especially now that we’re sitting here on the precipice of Christmas time. It’s easy to think about stress with regards to the holidays: all the time you’re spending with family, the money going out the door and up the chimney..
However, when I talk of stress I am talking about something a little different.
I am more interested in how you can handle stress.
We can’t take away the holidays, but we can help your body adapt to stress in the healthiest manner possible. That’s what Chiropractic care does for people. That’s what Adjust does for people. With a free and healthy nerve supply, you are able to adapt to life’s stresses in a better way. Isn’t that what life is all about? Life can’t be lived without stress, might as well learn how to adapt.
X-RAYS

X-RAYS

Just this week we had a patient that was not excited to get X-rays. Whether it was the gown that I needed her to put on, or the extra time that she had not planned for…she just was not happy about my request.
“Can’t you just feel what is going on?”
She is not the first one to ask this question. The short answer is, no, I cannot. In fact, no individual knows what the condition of your spine looks like without a picture. Just this week we found 2 separate individuals that had areas that should not be adjusted in the traditional manner, simply due to mechanical differences that were “unusual”.
The truth is this:
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Does an X-ray tell you everything about a patient? Of course not. However, it is a window into finding the cause of ill health. As a Chiropractor, I will take every precaution when looking to your spine for the cause of your health issues. If this takes an X-ray (and often it does), then this is what we will do to make sure you get the best care possible.
