Every year, many will make bold goals. Lately, the trend is to take a selfie that doesn’t really show your best side, in an attempt to shame oneself into making a change, physically. If this is what it takes to get you to make the changes you have wanted, then by all means go for it.
However, if this strategy works long term, you will be in the minority. In fact, the only way that we truly will make a change in our life, is if there is a truly meaningful reason behind it.
The real question we need to ask ourselves is: Why do we want that?
Wrap the “why” into your goal every step of the way. Meaning, every decision you make that will potentially get you closer to your goal or potentially keep you away from reaching you goal will be coupled with your “why”.
Sometimes, the “why” is the goal itself. If that is enough for you to take action, then great! However, most of us have to lean on something more personal. Maybe this means the goal, if achieved, will have a positive effect on a relationship that is currently strained. This emotionally charged “why”, if true for our purpose of action, will help get us the results we are looking for.
Let’s all set meaningful goals that truly move the needle in our lives, and if one of those is to get healthier in 2024, I hope you include Chiropractic!
At this time of the year, there is always an accumulation of stress. Just take a look at the traffic in the evenings: People speeding up, driving a bit more erratic. From an emotional perspective, we can all agree, the holidays bring on a bit more stress. However, there is also added stress, chemically, from the food we eat and the drinks we consume. For some, there is more physical stress: Raking leaves or getting those holiday decorations up and just right. Lastly, the weather pattern, at least here in Texas, continues to keep our bodies guessing. Freezing weather one day to wet and muggy, like this morning in mid December!
So, how does this all affect our health?
Stress affects the weak areas of the body. The spinal structure can be compared to links of a chain: It does not matter how strong the chain is, if there is one weak link. The weak area will show the stress, time and time again.
At Adjust, we discover where your weak areas affect your health, and make them as strong as possible. We accomplish this with very specific Chiropractic care to the affected areas. As the health of your spine and nerve system get stronger, so will your health. When the patient is free of interference in the nervous system, their body can respond appropriately to life’s stress so that you can enjoy life with less focus on the stress and more focus on what matters to you!
40 million in the US have sleep disorders of some kind!
I am not going to dive into sleep benefits here. While I understand that people will argue over anything, I am confident that if you are reading this, you know that sleep is good. So, let’s just start there:
Sleep is Good.
So, if we all agree that sleep is good, we can all also agree that sleep disorders are bad.
Sleep Disorders are Bad.
Furthermore, we should agree that getting to the bottom of what is causing the sleep disorder would be a healthy endeavor.
I am not going to sit here and tell you that Chiropractic causes sleep disorders to disappear. However, there is a growing mound of evidence that says that a healthy spine and nervous system increases the quality of your sleep. So, next time you lay down on you pillow, maybe ask yourself, “When was my last visit to my Chiropractor?”
