Why do people get so excited about football?
Of course, it is marketed extremely well.
Then there’s the bright lights, performances from the greatest artists at halftime.
However, why care about football at all?
I believe it is because people want what these Super Bowl players seem to possess: GREATNESS
It is our basic need to be significant. We want to be great at what we choose to do. No matter what we choose, it is our choice and therefore significant to us!
This begs the question, “How do I become great?”
Simply, greatness starts with great health.
No matter how much talent a person possesses, without great health, that talent will never shine.
*Spoiler alert: Most often, the healthiest team wins it all. It really is that simple.
Of course, you are likely not playing in a Super Bowl. However, does that mean your health is somehow not as important? You have goals and aspirations just like Drew Brees does. Sure, his physical prowess is obviously important, but it is not as important as yours and mine.
Often when people come to the conclusion that they have failed their health without knowing, despair can be seen. This is totally understandable. They should be disappointed, they should be mad! Imagine focusing your life on things you believe will bring security:
Paying of your mortgage on or ahead of time.
Showing up to church on Sunday to keep the kids focused on good, healthy spiritual habits for their future.
Walking 3 times a week to help your mental stress, as well as keep the weight from accumulating.
Picking the side salad at one meal per day.
The list goes on and on. However the BIG MISTAKE is not focusing on the one thing you cannot live without: a healthy nerve system.
Technology allows a chiropractor to check the health of your nerve system. There is no guesswork, we now know whether your nerve system is functioning properly. If not, we know how to make changes to positively affect the health of your nerve system.
Often, a 35-50 year old individual, whom initially enters my office, believes that it is normal to feel fatigue midday. They chalk it up to kids, age, stress at work, spousal issues, etc. No doubt, there will always be times when stress will get us down.
However, regular fatigue by 2pm is not normal at all. Fatigue is the body’s way of trying to get you to slow down. Honestly, most of us in our current work environments are not really working as hard as we use to 500 years ago. If you are hunting for 6 hours, walking and running great distances to catch your food, a midday nap is acceptable. However, if your workday consists of simple chores around the house, some computer work, checking emails, and running a couple of errands, then you should have plenty of energy left for the afternoon.
This message you are receiving from your body is this: you are not recovering properly. I have found these are the 3 most likely reasons:
Your immune system is working too hard.
Your adrenal glands are overworked (often noticed by poor quality sleep).
Your digestion is not properly assimilating the nutrients as it should.
So what to do? Do we take more vitamins, drink more coffee, step it up to a Monster Energy? Um….no. For long-term, positively-affecting-health changes try this:
Work on your ability to adapt. This is what it means to not recover properly. I talk about this on YouTube. Check it out here.
Get adjusted. Your ability to handle stress properly is directly proportional to the health of your spine and nerve system. Find a chiropractor that measures your nerve system, utilizes pure chiropractic techniques and has an understanding of your health goals.
I have to admit, I am a little uncomfortable with “down time”. No doubt, time for your body to recover, for the mind to rest, or for relaxation is important. However, “down time” should never go against the ultimate purpose for our lives. My purpose is so clear to me that I know what down time should and should not look like.
If down time is time away from my son, I’m not interested. I work too hard for that down time. For my wife, however, down time is time spent more on herself…because she is around our son all day long..well at least for the summer!
Innate intelligence (that “thing” that heals and maintains us in existence) has no down time. All the time, innate intel. is on the job. It keeps you functioning in the crazy world you choose to function. You push your body on the weekend, innate intel. has it covered. You choose to veg. out on the sofa on Sunday morning watching cartoons, innate intel. has all the chores checked off for the radical change in your activity level.
One day your innate intel. will have downtime. Until then, I suggest we live our life FILLED with experiences that enrich the lives around us. One can do this best with an innate intel. that is uninterrupted…the meaning of living a subluxation-free life.
Picture taken facing left. Reversal of curve shown.
When looking at an x-ray, like the one above, it is important to understand a few things:
This curve was not always this way. Most of us have a great curve in our neck before we can walk properly, it helps with balance.
It is a common condition, yet it does not have to be. The curvature in the spine gets changed like the one above from a condition called vertebral subluxation.
This can and should be corrected for proper functioning of the nerve system, which leads to a healthier existence.
