the natural order of positivity

20131126-065424.jpgNormally, I am one to blog about positive things. Staying away from the negativity that seems to travel across the social media websites is not always an easy chore. In fact there are ways that I defend myself from this garbage. I’ve been asked to talk about this. More often the real question that presents to me is, “How do you stay so positive all the time.”

You see, just like good health, I see “staying positive” as the natural order of life.

If I am not feeling optimisitic, or positive at any moment, then I know something is interfering with this natural feeling, or state of health. This interfering agent could be many things. I believe the main reason for this feeling in most is a lack of congruency in their lives. (Much more on that subject to come in a future blog).
With that being said,

I also don’t over indulge in things that lead to this negative “arena” of thoughts and processes.

For instance, we know that there are certain people in our lives that are more “negative” than others. I don’t associate with those people. I’ve put a lot of energy in thought about what actions bring about negative emotions…and I stay clear of these actions. One example would be participating in gossip. Sure, in a small town it is always interesting to know who did what with whom…however I also know that this sort of conversation, for me, does not feed my health. I start to feel bad for the one being gossiped about, and I just don’t see anything constructive in this. I also know that the more productive you are, the more people know you, and the more they will talk about you.
I know that in the chiropractic profession, I have many times stated that how you feel is not an important measurement of how healthy you are. This statement still holds true today. However, following your “gut feeling” is extremely important. The more you listen to this feeling, the more you will be directed in the life of less pessimism. Who doesn’t want a little less of that in their lives?

What would happen if….?

Too often, opportunities are lost by not asking ourselves this basic question. Many of us are so use to our current state of affairs, that we see no potential for change or growth. This is the way it has always been, why would I expect it to be any different tomorrow?
It’s called limitations. We all have limitations, however our limitations vary from person to person. Yet, we were all born pretty much the same way. A majority of us had similar opportunities growing up, same basic trials and tribulations. Sure, there are differences in what we ate, who our parents were, and what neighborhood we lived in, however all in all chances are there were no huge stressors to your life that would limit your health potential more than the next guy.
We see the health that exists in some and for some reason we do not think that it can exist within ourselves. As though, this 75 year old 5k runner possesses some sort of extraordinary gene that we were not endowed with from our parents. And maybe the scientific community is a little guilty for making you feel that way.
Here are the facts:
Most people underestimate their potential.
Most people make up excuses for why they can not experience amazing health.
Most people instill these limiting beliefs to their children without knowing it.
Most people have an unbelievable amount of potential for themselves, and an extraordinary amount of potential for their kids health that would change the course of their lives dramatically.
And here is the kicker, most people don’t read this blog. That’s right, they are never told about this health potential that oftentimes just needs to be released. That’s what I do as a chiropractor. That’s what makes my “job” seem more like a calling. Now you know. Chiropractic care releases the huge resources inside of you that are limited in some way at this time.
I leave you with this thought:
What would happen if…? You fill in the blank. What’s the “thing” that you always thought you would do when you were younger? It’s the thing that your adult mind dismissed as a pipe dream. Chances are someone is doing it, why not you?

At what cost?

When deciding where to go for dinner, most people think of the monetary cost versus the quality of the experience. For instance, a visit to Taco Bell does nothing to most people’s taste buds, however the monetary cost is extremely low, so it makes up for it…..or does it?
Maybe it’s time that we start thinking of long-term costs as well. Research shows us time and time again that upfront lower costs often have a larger cost down the road. Take clothing for example. Buy a cheap pair of jeans and watch how fast they fade, rip, and tear.
STRATEGY:
With a handful of the decisions that you will make today, do a quick assessment as to long term versus short term benefit. I bet you find that you are programmed to make short term choices. This is neither good for you or your loved ones. If we start thinking long term more and more, the results could be huge down the road.

The most successful people are the ones that have a long term vision, the goals to support that vision, and the drive to achieve those goals.

The wonders of innate

Everyone in my office has heard me speak of innate intelligence. Innate intelligence, if you have not heard the term, is what is responsible for the healing within all living things. Innate continually does everything it can to keep you thriving in a not-so-perfect world. Without innate, there is no life.
Innate is not a new principle. The idea of innate has been around since the beginning of time. Innate is simply the difference between someone that is alive, and one that is not. Innate is the conductor.
In a highly orchestrated concert, innate is the conductor. Every member of the orchestra is vitally important to the concert. In fact without one member of the orchestra, the sound is diminished, the timing off, and the music will suffer. The conductor keeps it all working together, in harmony.
Today as you eat your not-so-healthy food choices, innate will decipher what it can use, and what it cannot. As you stress over a spreadsheet at work, take a moment to cherish and be thankful for your innate intelligence. For it keeps on working, with whatever resources you provide, to keep you as healthy as possible.

what does it cost?

Everything has a cost. The cost may not always come in monetary form, however there will be a cost for benefit. Without always realizing it, we are paying for the things we want on a regular basis. Right now, I am listening to music as I write this post. The cost? I am also being sold products during commercial time. Don’t want commercials? No worries, then just pay a monthly fee for internet or satellite radio.

Let’s see how this works for our health:
Hungry? Choice 1- Visit a local grocery store (pay for the food)
Choice 2- Go to your local fast food establishment (pay for the food, and pay for the poor health consequences later)
Choice 3- Go to a nice restaurant with your loved one (pay more for your food, less for health consequences later)
Choice 4- Grow your own food (send time and energy for growing of food, not to mention water, and proper growing tools for your garden)

What is important to understand is that the cost doesn’t outweigh the benefit. The cost for me to go to a fast food restaurant is initially minimal, however has long term cost associated with it that I am not willing to pay. The cost for me to essentially neglect my health today is way too high to even consider. I know many from my childhood that essentially took this “cheaper” route with their health, and today I can enjoy time with my 3 year old, and know it was because of smarter decisions 5-10 years ago.
